We're excited to offer pre-conference workshops at TDU 2027. These sessions are optional add-ons and will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2027.
[Study Abroad] Day One and Beyond: Your Study Abroad Starter Kit *BEGINNER*
Full Day | 9:00am - 4:45pm | Tuesday, March 30
Kick off your Terra Dotta Study Abroad journey and leave with the essentials covered. This hands-on workshop walks through five key areas, with real practice time on each one, so you leave ready to put your new skills to work.
No prior experience needed, and no question is too basic. By the end of the day, you will have the foundation you need to get the most out of every other session this week, plus a clear sense of what to tackle first when you get back to your office.
This workshop will introduce you to the following:
- Using Application Finder to process applications
- Creating and editing programs in Program Wizard
- Opening App Cycles with App Cycle Management
- Managing application requirements with Deployment Rules
- Creating reports in Reporting

[ISSS Next Gen] Getting Started with ISSS Next Gen: A Love Story *BEGINNER*
Half Day | 1:15pm - 4:45pm | Tuesday, March 30
Are you an international educator ready to commit to a foundational understanding of ISSS Next Gen? This workshop is your meet-cute with the system, a low-pressure first date designed to build real confidence before things get serious. Designed for professionals who are new to ISSS Next Gen or need a refresher on the basics, this workshop offers a guided overview of key features, terminology, and essential workflows within the solution.
Participants will learn how to:
- Create Student/Scholar Profiles
- Process Initial Attendance I-20s and DS-2019s via Batch & Post to RTI
- Navigate & Utilize the Batch Manager
- Process requests/authorizations like OPT, CPT, and Academic Training
- Navigate Reporting
Whether you're swiping right on ISSS Next Gen for the first time or rekindling an old connection, this workshop will give you the practical skills and confidence to support international students and scholars effectively, no cold feet required.

[Study Abroad] Open Doors: Break On Through to the Other Side *INTERMEDIATE*
Half Day | 1:15pm - 4:45pm | Tuesday, March 30
Getting the data you need for Open Doors can sometimes feel like opening a stubborn door: the information is there, but it may take a little work to get it moving. This session will help you break through by starting with the fundamentals: validating your Terra Dotta data, exporting reports, and completing the Excel transformations required for the survey. We'll also show how AI tools can handle repetitive spreadsheet tasks to save time and improve accuracy. Finally, we'll look at scalable solutions like data pipelines and dashboards for institutions ready to build something more sustainable year after year. Leave with practical ideas no matter where you're starting from! Some experience with the software is recommended.

We expect that you will remain in a single workshop for the entire pre-conference workshop day. Only one workshop purchase per person is allowed. The full day workshop includes lunch. Half-day workshops do not include lunch.
