Harmonized Sales Tax (HST)
Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) will be applied to your registration fee in accordance with Ontario tax regulations. The applicable HST amount will be added at checkout and reflected on your receipt.

Visa Requirements & Valid Passport
Visitors to Canada must carry a valid passport for entry. Depending on your nationality, you may need:
- A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)
- An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) for visa‑exempt foreign nationals arriving by air
- A passport valid for the duration of your stay
If you hold a passport from one of the following countries, you need a visa and a valid passport to come to Canada. Please visit the Government of Canada website for travel documents required to enter Canada.
- Argentina (some citizens may be eligible for an eTA if they meet certain requirements.)
- Brazil (some citizens may be eligible for an eTA if they meet certain requirements.)

Letter of Invitation
If you require a formal letter of invitation for your visa application, please complete our Letter of Invitation form and email it to events@sima-amvi.ca.
Ensure all highlighted fields are completed. Upon receipt, a signed electronic copy will be emailed to you. Original signed copies will be sent by regular and registered mail if requested.
Airport Information
Toronto has two major public airports:
Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), located 26 km from the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
- Union Pearson Express (UP Express), runs from Pearson Airport to Union Station in downtown Toronto in just 28 minutes. Union Station is directly across the Fairmont Royal York. Adult one-way fare from Pearson to Union is $12.35. Children under 12 years of age ride free.
- Tickets can be purchased online or in person at UP Express Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs). Trains run every 15-minutes, seven days a week.
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), downtown airport located just two km from the city centre.
- Complimentary shuttle buses take passengers from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport to the Fairmont Royal York hotel (pick-up/drop-off locations)
- Porter Airlines and Air Canada fly in/out Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ).
Travel Insurance
All delegates are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance covering:

International travelers should be aware of potential foreign transaction fees, which may apply when using foreign debit or credit cards for purchases or ATM withdrawals.
Before traveling, it’s a good idea to advise your bank or credit card provider of your travel dates and destination. This helps prevent your card from being flagged or blocked for suspicious international activity while you’re in Canada.
ATMs are available 24/7 in bank branches, shopping malls, and convenience stores throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Typical bank hours are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on weekdays; some branches may offer extended hours or Saturday service.
Telecommunications & Mobile Phones
- Ensure your device supports Canadian 3G/4G/5G bands
- Use Wi‑Fi where possible to avoid roaming fees
- Consider purchasing a local SIM or eSIM from carriers such as Rogers, Telus, or Bell (your phone must be unlocked).
- Be aware of international roaming fees if using your home plan.
Emergency, Health & Safety

Post-conference Tour
Please be advised that there will be no post-conference tour offered following the conference on October 5-7. We encourage delegates to make their own arrangements for activities and sightseeing following the conference.
