About Dr. Kwane Stewart

A graduate of Colorado State University's renowned veterinary program, Dr. Kwane Stewart has been a California veterinarian for over 26 years, excelling in clinical, business, and leadership roles. His career highlights include serving as Chief Medical Officer for VETCO Hospitals, County Veterinarian for a municipal shelter where he reduced euthanasia rates, and Chief Veterinary Officer of American Humane, overseeing the No Animals Were Harmed® program for film and TV. Currently, he holds leadership roles with Kismet, HolistaPet, and Fetch Pet Insurance.

Dr. Stewart’s compassionate advocacy has earned him recognition from media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, and The Kelly Clarkson Show, culminating in his recent honor as CNN Hero of the Year 2023.

 

"The Street Vet"

Inspired by his shelter work, Dr. Stewart began offering free veterinary care to pets of the unhoused, a mission now chronicled in the docuseries The Street Vet. As Founder and President of Project Street Vet, his nonprofit provides free veterinary care and support throughout the United States to pets of individuals experiencing homelessness or financial hardship.
