Regional Readiness Rendezvous 2023

The Greater Idaho Healthcare Coalition (GIHCC) is a group of healthcare organizations that build acute care medical surge capacity. GIHCC covers all of eastern Idaho, from Twin Falls County East to the boards of Idaho. This includes 24 counties, 20 hospitals, three Public Health Districts, and the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.

GIHCC helps to bring the health care system together to prepare for disaster or emergencies. GIHCC does this by creating common goals to mitigate, prepare, respond, and recover collectively. During a disaster or emergency, they take a communication and coordination role within their jurisdiction.

GIHCC has representatives on their Advisory Board from acute care hospitals, local public health, local emergency management and EMS agencies in each public health district region. The membership of the coalition consist of all organizations that support directly or insecurely the healthcare system. GIHCC is one of three federally recognized Regional Health Care Coalitions in Idaho.

The GIHCC originates from the Office of Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) through their Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) that is ran in each state in their Department of Health and Welfare.

The Drug Overdose Prevention Program (DOPP) uses data to plan and implement evidence-based strategies to reduce overdose death in Idaho. DOPP collaborates with emergency medicine and primary care providers across the state to create a safer and healthier Idaho.
