In a previous role at Advisory Board, she advised care transformation leaders on their population health management strategy. 

    Clare graduated Magna Cum Laude from Franklin and Marshall College with a Bachelor of Arts in business and chemistry. She also holds an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

    Jeremiah is a Vice President and actuary and leads the Risk Management & Insights business at Optum. He has 25 years of experience in health care actuarial and analytics domains. Jeremiah’s primary career focus has been in the area of value and risk-based consulting for providers, as well as end-to-end analytics for health systems. He has worked with health systems, physicians, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Clinically Integrated Networks (CINs), health insurance plans, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and state and national regulatory agencies. Jeremiah also has an extensive background in international healthcare, having spent more than three years working with the National Health Service (NHS) in England as well as projects in Brazil, Canada, and Columbia.

    Jeremiah advises provider organizations in the capacity of their chief actuary to enable risk and performance management. In this role Jeremiah enables health system strategic initiatives through data and best-in-class analytics. Key focus areas include maximizing performance in value-based contracts, enabling growth in lives and share of services for those lives, networks and partnerships, high value and high-quality care, service line strategy, population health management, and determinants of health. 

    Prior to the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010 and again in 2016, Jeremiah provided actuarial expertise for Optum UK for four years, consulting with both commissioners and providers of care in England. The scope of work included population health analytics, financial performance management, ACO feasibility, financial simulation modeling, development of health actuarial capabilities in the UK, contracting, health economics (including QALYs), financial reporting, activity monitoring reports, and provider management reporting.

     

    Jeremiah has served on the American Academy of Actuaries Health Care Delivery committee, Medicare committee, and the Health Solvency subcommittee, as well as the Society of Actuaries’ Value Based Purchasing strategic initiative and the Health Section’s Value-Based Care steering committee.

    Jeremiah is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and an Associate of the Society of Actuaries. Jeremiah graduated magna cum laude from Mayville State University with a double major in mathematics and physical science. He also holds a Master of Science degree in mathematics from the University of North Dakota. He frequently speaks at industry events including Becker’s, AMGA, AHA, HFMAs, NACHC, ACHE, MCRA, CCA, and the SOA.

She began her professional career in medicine as a private practice physician in Doylestown, PA

    Dr. Borans earned her medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA. She completed an internal medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, also in Philadelphia. She holds a BA in Biology from Brandeis University
