2026 Play Equity Summit Beyond Spectacle: Play Because it Matters

April 2, 2026

Register

The Play Equity Summit brings together policymakers, national researchers, elite athletes, coaches and organizations working in youth development, sports, education, and philanthropy.

The theme of the 2026 Play Equity Summit is, “Beyond Spectacle: Play Because It Matters.”

Pierre de Coubertin, co-founder of the International Olympic Committee, and known as the father of the modern Olympic Games, believed that the value of sport lies not in medals but in the courage to test ourselves. The summit will ask how we reclaim play and sport as a public good in an era of billion-dollar spectacles.

Inspired by the legacies of LA84, the 1994 Men’s and 1999 Women’s World Cups, and icons like Pelé and Nelson Mandela, we’ll explore how World Cups, Super Bowls and Olympics can fuel policy, investment, and place-based impact so every child and community benefits—not just the highlight reels.

The Summit is a connection point for the national movement for play equity—increasing access to sport, play and movement for all kids, regardless of their background, family income or zip code—as the LA84 Foundation and Play Equity Fund advance play equity to modernize the ideals of Olympism.

Join the team on April 2, 2026, at the JW Marriott at LA Live.

Additional speakers and panels to be announced.
