    Markus Fischer, RD, RDT, PID, began his dental journey in 1993 as a dental technology student at Vancouver Community College (VCC). He founded his own dental laboratory in 1997 and, two years later, joined VCC as a dental technology instructor—a role he held for 15 years.

    Inspired to work directly with patients, Markus became a denturist in 2006. His denture clinic took a transformative turn in 2014 when he was introduced to Dr. Jiro Abe and the BPS/SEMCD denture technique, which he has passionately embraced ever since.

    A committed lifelong learner, Markus and his team at Fischer Denture Clinic have integrated digital denture technology—including design, printing, and milling—into their workflow since 2022. As a certified BPS and SEMCD instructor, he has delivered numerous courses and presentations over the past nine years, sharing his expertise with colleagues across the profession.

    Devaughn has worked in the health industry for 21 years - 18 specifically as a technician or as Director of Highland Dental Lab. Anticipating the morphing dental landscape, modernization began at Highland 18 years ago with the acquisition of their first in-house milling unit. Years later, the lab is state of the art with multiple scanners, mills & 3D model printers. Devaughn has received advanced design certificates from Dentsply Sirona, Vita and beyond. Further, he is numbered amongst a lucky few that are ‘Global in Lab Trainers’ certified in Germany, and is a software, hardware & materials beta tester. Additionally, he is a certified CEREC SPEAR mentor and shares his passion through writing for several dental publications. Devaughn self identifies as a ‘tooth nerd’ and can be found immersed in a dental publication or tinkering with his dental ‘toys’. Devaughn is an avid outdoorsman, rugby fanatic & suffers from a congenitally defective sense of humor.

    Dr. Huh graduated from School of Dentistry at Pusan National University in Korea in 2002. He finished the Resident program for the specialty of Prosthodontics at the Ajou University Hospital and received his PhD degree at the school of dentistry, Yonsei University, Korea in 2011. Dr. Huh is Associate Professor of Prosthodontics at School of Dentistry, Pusan National University. He has published over 80 scientific papers and five book chapters in the scientific literature for the last 5 years. He has lectured extensively about dental implant, prosthodontics, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Dr. Huh is also the head of Dental Research Institute and the head in department of prosthodontics, Pusan National University Dental Hospital. Dr. Huh has been honored with "Student Research Fellowship Award" in IADR Implantology Research Group at 2009, "IADR Hatton Award" in IADR Korean Division in 2010, and "Young Scientist Award" in the Korean Academy of Prosthodontics at 2012. Recently, he was honored as the grand prize winner of the "Yeon-Song Dentistry Prize" that is most prestigious award in the field of Korean dentistry in 2018.

    Samantha (Sam, she/her) is a US trained physician who has lived in BC for the past 22 years in the unceded territory of the Sylix and autonomous Sinixit, under the grace of K'marken also known as Red Mountain.

    Her relevant medical training includes medical school at the University of Connecticut (go Huskies!), Yale University (internship), Dartmouth University (dermatology and histopathology) and Harvard (molecular bone pathology).

    While at UConn she studied oral pathology with a dermatology clinician.

    In summary, she says she loves to learn and loves the outdoors. She lives in the Kootenays with her dog and does outdoor stuff. She is also a dog mom and stepmom to two men who are awesome humans and have cool jobs: a Canadian air force pilot and a veterinarian. She is proudly Canadian.

    Dr. Julian B. Sernik, MD, FRCSC is an orthopedic surgeon, systems-improvement leader, and expert clinical faculty in Consultant Specialist Team Care with a professional focus on how skilled professionals can build and maintain high functioning teams that can adapt to change while preserving quality, efficiency and team dynamic.

He is also a TEDx speaker, focusing on the universal language of collaborative problem-solving across industries.

    Dr. Sernik brings a practical, operator-level perspective to conversations about modernization - grounded in real-world experience leading professionals and their teams through high-stakes transitions without losing the human and technical excellence at the core of their work.

    Stephanie brings more than thirty years of extensive experience to the patients and students of her practice. She began her career in 1988 as a crown and bridge technician in Devon, England, where she was born and raised. In 1991, she joined a dental laboratory that specialized in prosthetics and casting, where her passion for dentures first began.

    To further her education, in 1989 Stephanie enrolled at the Dental School at Cardiff University in Wales, graduating in 1993 with a National Diploma in Science (Dental Technology). Her dedication to her studies was recognized when she received a grant from The Prince of Wales Business Trust for Young Entrepreneurs.

    Following graduation, Stephanie established her own laboratory, “The Tooth Fairy,” at just twenty-one years old which she ran and operated until she moved to Canada to pursue greater business opportunities in 2004.

    In 2008, she became certified as a Licensed Dental Technician (LDT), which allowed her to pursue further education and professional qualifications. She later earned her Licensed Denturist (LD) license.

    Stephanie is one of only four technical instructors in Canada certified to teach SEMCD (Lower Suction Denture). She has trained technicians, dentists, and denturists across North America in these specialized techniques. In addition, she is a certified instructor in Ivoclar’s Bio functional Prosthetic System (BPS) and currently serves on the executive committee of the Denturist Association of British Columbia.
