WORKSHOPS

Overview: CBTU will be offering two different workshops this year that will focus on the progress, deployment, timeline and labour requirements of upcoming major projects.

Workshop One: Carbon Capture and Storage

As Canada transitions to net-zero, new technologies including carbon capture and storage will need to be leveraged to help us meet our climate goals. Hear from Pathways Alliance, an organization representing Canada’s six largest oil sands companies, on their project to build one of the world’s largest carbon capture and storage facilities in the oil sands region of northern Alberta.

Workshop Two: Hydrogen

Hydrogen could meet 24% of global energy demand by 2050, help Canada meet its climate goals and, according to the Canadian Hydrogen Strategy, the hydrogen sector is expected to create 350,000 well-paying jobs over the next three decades. Learn more about this new technology and hear about projects to produce green hydrogen and ammonia and the employment opportunities that innovative projects like these will provide for members of the construction industry.
