Asset life cycle management is changing rapidly. New challenges stem from how we work today as well as how to meet new security requirements and new ESG reporting demands. Many organisations are currently adapting to the new CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) from the EU. How you manage your IT assets and reporting around those will be included in this work for most organisations. This session will share what you can achieve today with available industry data, reporting templates and automated processes. Walk away with new insights on how can you take a lead in driving this change in the industry.

As critical elements become rarer, urban mining is a promising new source of materials but classic recycling methods are not sustainable. Bioleaching, which uses non-toxic, non-pathogenic microorganisms to solubilise metals, offers a simple, environmentally friendly approach that avoids using toxic chemicals and large amounts of energy.

Resetting networking equipment to factory settings is often thought to completely erase configurations and VLAN setups, but this is not always the case. Many networking devices retain certain configurations even after a factory reset due to embedded or persistent storage designed to maintain critical system settings. These residual configurations can include VLAN settings, IP addresses, and other network-specific data. This persistence is intended to simplify device recovery and maintain essential connectivity, but it poses a security risk by potentially leaving sensitive information accessible. Additionally, some devices may require multiple reset methods or additional commands to fully clear all configurations. Therefore, relying solely on a factory reset can lead to incomplete removal of network settings, highlighting the need for thorough verification and additional security measures to ensure complete data sanitization. This issue underscores the importance of understanding device-specific reset processes and the potential need for more rigorous data erasure techniques.

Running a family business and also successfully engage politically in order to initiate urgently necessary changes. All of this with little budget. That sounds pretty crazy, but what isn't possible when you look back on 70 years of tradition, support 1000 workshops in Germany, and simply don't want to live in a throwaway society? The alternative model is clear to me: a repair society. But what is actually necessary and can it even work?

The B2B market has long been left on its own by legislators, contracts and competition should do the job. Today we see some change, driven by sustainability, in legislation and reporting requirements. The tension on the playing field is growing as the battle to continue business growth by the OEM channel is including ITAD as a part of the so called IT aftermarket. A healthy independent market needs to be involved; what's up and what does this mean for the future of your company?

This session explores the concept of One for One. This service links one device added to the global market to one EOL device being removed (collected and recycled) from the global market.
The approach is already often used to apply circular thinking when new tech is sold.
But as One for One funds the recovery of redundant technology in emerging nations, it can also be used to improve ITAD propositions. One for One can tackle the often-heard customer fear of inadvertently propagating electronic dumping (“Where will these used devices go?”) by creating a closed loop for ITAD. Closing the Loop will talk about how its service supports its ITAD partners, as great ITAD propositions get linked to the recovery of e-waste in developing nations (to avoid the landfill blight which might occur). Thus creating a new loop and a USP for ITAD.

This panel discussion will delve into the key challenges faced by IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) companies in data sanitisation, focusing on regulatory compliance, technological advancements, and client expectations. As data security becomes increasingly critical, ITADs must navigate these complexities to ensure secure data erasure. Specific challenges include handling IoT devices with unique storage features, addressing data security for remote workers, managing smart home devices containing personal data, and ensuring their proper disposal. Despite these hurdles, the growing market and heightened demand for data privacy compliance present significant opportunities for ITADs to adapt and thrive.
