Beef Farmers of Ontario have been so encouraged by the enthusiasm and engagement in the Ontario Beef Youth Alliance (OBYA). We are looking forward to bringing this group together again to travel to Manitoulin Island!

Tour of a cow-calf and feedlot operation with discussions on barn design and farm succession.
5:30pm Arrive at the ferry
6:30pm Ferry Departs ~ Supper on the ferry
8:30pm Arrive on the island
9:30pm Arrive at the Manitoulin Hotel & Conference Centre
Saturday, July 12th
Breakfast at the hotel
8:30am Bus departs hotel
9:30am Farm Stop 2
Tour of a pasture operation that rotationally grazes yearlings. We will discuss pasture management, farm expansion, and risk management.
11:30am Farm Stop 3
Tour of progressive birth to beef farm that markets both grass and grain fed beef directly to consumers.
Lunch with guest speakers.
2:30pm Farm Stop 4
Tour of a new feedlot barn with discussions on receiving cattle and direct marketing.
5:00pm Grain Elevator Tour with supper
8:00pm Arrive at the Manitoulin Hotel & Conference Centre

Tour of a cow-calf operation that focuses on genetics and data management.

Please note: For the safety and security of our tour hosts, we have omitted names and location details from the agenda above. The complete agenda, including addresses for tour stops will be provided after registration.
Full registration covers the cost of the bus, the ferry ride, two nights of hotel accommodations, and meals (excluding the meals on the ferry which participants will purchase on their own).
Slip on boot covers or boot wash will be provided at each farm for biosecurity reasons.
