Sales Tax Exemption for 2026
Must provide an exemption certificate or fill out the online exemption form by the 15th of the month following registration
The Department of Revenue has stated that any school district wishing to claim the exemption from paying sales tax on registrations for live presentations, such as WSSDA’s annual conference, must provide an exemption certificate to the seller.
Due to the state’s current excise tax reporting requirements, WSSDA requires that any district wishing to claim this exemption provide their exemption no later than the 15th of the month following the registration.
Districts may choose one of the following options:
Failure to Provide the Sales Tax Exemption Certificate
In accordance with Washington state Department of Revenue reporting requirements, failure to provide a certificate by the 15th of the month following registration may result in WSSDA treating the registration as taxable. Should this happen, the district will be invoiced for the sales tax due on the conference registrations.
